UNIVERSITY OF SPACE

The University of Space is an independent arts organization based in New York City. Founded in 2022, the org is currently spearheaded by the University of Space Recording Company, dedicated to the recording, distribution, and promotion of music by emerging acts from the DIY underground. Artists aligned with USpace have also been actively involved in organizing performances, creating ‘zines, and advocating for sustainable DIY culture.

University of Space co-founder Brian LaRue previously managed the utopian punk multimedia artspace Pet Rescue Studio. Pet Rescue, located in Brooklyn, NY, operated from 2013 through 2022, hosting music shows, art exhibits, film screenings, video and photo shoots, readings, audio recordings, and rehearsals; and specializing in garage rock, indiepop, powerpop, and psych music.
